- What Information We Collect and Why We Collect It?
- Basic Account Information and User Content:
When you create or reconfigure an Account with Us, you provide some personal information, such as your name, username, password, email address, or phone number. We collect the content and other information you provide when you use our Services, this can include information in or about the content you provide, such as the location of a photo or the date a file was created, comments and other materials that you share in our platform (“User Content”). We also collect information about how you use our Services, such as the types of content you view or engage with or the frequency and duration of your activities.
When you share information with us, for example by creating a Compass Canada Account (“Account”), We can make those Services even better – to show you more relevant feed suiting to your interests, to help you connect with many people or to make sharing with others quicker and easier.
- Contact Information:
We may use your contact information, such as your email address or phone number, to customize your account or enable Services, for example, for login verification. If you provide Compass Canada with your phone number, you agree to receive text messages to that number from Compass Canada. You may provide us with profile information to make public on the Services, such as a short biography, your location, your website, date of birth, or a picture. For certain profile information fields we provide you with visibility settings to select who can see this information in your profile. If you provide us with profile information and you don’t see a visibility setting, that information is public.
You may choose to upload and sync your address book so that we can help you find and connect with other users you know or help other users find and connect with you. We may later tailor User Content, such as making suggestions or showing user accounts for you to follow and other Users based on imported address book contacts.
- Device Information:
We collect information from or about the computers, phones, or other devices from where you install or access our Services, depending on the permissions you’ve granted. We may associate the information We collect from your different devices, which helps Us provide consistent Services across your devices.
Here are some examples of the kinds of information We collect:
- Attributes such as the operating system, browser version.
- Device locations, including specific geographic locations, such as through GPS, Bluetooth, or WiFi signals.
- Connection information such as the name of your mobile operator or ISP, browser type, language and timezone, mobile phone number and IP address.

We may receive information about your location. For example, you may choose to publish your location in your User Content and/or in your Compass Canada Account. When you use our Services, We may collect and process information about your actual location. We use various technologies to determine location, including IP address and GPS.
We may use and store information about your location to provide features of our Services, such as posting User Content with your location, and to improve and customize the Services, for example, with more relevant content like local trends, stories, ads, and suggestions for people to follow.
Information we collect when you are signed in to Compass Canada, are in addition to information we obtain about you from partners, may be associated with your Account. Users can add or may have further information added to their User Content including a hashtag (e.g., to mark keywords when you post a photo), geotag (e.g., to mark your location to a photo), comments or other data. This makes User Content more searchable by others and more interactive. If you geotag your User Content or tag your User Content, your latitude and longitude will be stored with the User Content and searchable (e.g., through a location or map feature) if your User Content is made public by you in accordance with your privacy settings.
- How do we use the information?
We use the information we collect from our Services to provide, maintain, protect and improve them, to develop new ones, and to protect Us and our Users. We also use this information to offer you tailored content – like giving you more relevant feeds. We will use information to monitor metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic, and demographic patterns, and diagnose or fix technology problems.
We may also share your information among our affiliates so that we can better provide Services that is relevant to you.
We may use your email address to inform you about our Services, such as letting you know about upcoming changes or improvements.
We use information collected from cookies and other technologies, like pixel tags, to improve your user experience and the overall quality of our Services. When showing you User Content, ads or feed, We will not associate an identifier from cookies or similar technologies with sensitive categories, such as those based on race, religion, sexual orientation or health.
- How is the information is shared with others?
Any information you share with us is shared as viewable for a public audience and the information under your ‘Account profile’ are public information. Public information is available to anyone on or off our Services.
In some cases, Users you share and communicate with may download or re-share this User Content with others on and off our Services. When you comment on another User’s User Content that User decides the audience who can see your comment. If their audience is public, your comment will also be public.
We may also share your personal information in connection with any merger, a sale of our assets, or a financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company. Whenever we share your personal information for this reason we will ensure that the recipient is bound by all appropriate confidentiality obligations and that it commits to using your personal information only for the purposes for which you originally provided it.
- Your choice to access and update information
If you are a registered User of our Services, we provide you with Account Settings to access, correct, delete, or modify the personal information you provided to us and associated with your Account. You can also permanently delete your Compass Canada account. When your account is deleted, it will not be viewable on Compass Canada.com.
- How do we keep your information secure?
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the information we collect.
- How long do we keep information for?
We retain any information for a period of ninety (90) days, unless otherwise required by law. After ninety (90) days we further anonymise the data and may store it for internal analytical purposes if relevant or else we will destroy the same. However, the content you have created or shared in our platform will be available in our website until the Account holder choose to delete it.
- I am a citizen of Swaziland and data laws in my country is different from India and USA. Do Compass Canada takes information about me, outside my native country?
We may process your personal information on a server located outside the country where you live. Irrespective of which country you live in, you authorize us to use your information in, and as a result to transfer it to and store it in, the India, and any other country where we operate. Privacy and data protection laws in some of these countries may vary from the laws in the country where you live.
- How to contact us about a deceased User?
In the event of the death of an User, please contact us. We will usually conduct our communication via email; should we require any other information, we will contact you at the email address you have provided in your request.

Our Services are not directed to persons under 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us [email protected].We do not knowingly collect any personal information about children under the age of 13 to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). If we become aware that we have collected personal information about a child under the age of 13, that information will be immediately deleted from our database.
